CCPA Notice for California Residents

About this notice

This notice supplements our Privacy Policy and applies only to visitors who are California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). It explains the categories of personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have.

Categories of personal information we collect

In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories:

  • Identifiers. Name, email address, phone number, IP address, and similar contact details you enter on our forms.
  • Commercial information. The firm details you submit, such as firm name, firm size, practice area, and current software.
  • Internet or other electronic network activity. Pages you visit on our site, the referring URL, and cookie data from Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel.
  • Geolocation data. General location derived from your IP address.
  • Inferences. Conclusions we draw to match your request to suitable vendors and to improve our advertising.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Sources of personal information

We collect personal information from:

  • You, when you fill out a form, email us, or interact with the site.
  • Your device and browser, through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Advertising partners such as Meta and Google, who pass attribution data when you arrive from one of our ads.

How we use personal information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Match your request to the vendors you consented to receive quotes from.
  • Respond to your questions and provide customer support.
  • Measure the performance of our advertising and improve our site.
  • Build and analyze marketing audiences.
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Who we share personal information with

  • Vendor partners you selected on our form, so they can send you a quote.
  • Analytics and advertising processors such as Google (Analytics 4) and Meta (Facebook Pixel) for measurement and audience building.
  • Service providers that help us host the site, send transactional email, and operate our forms.
  • Authorities where required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.

Sale or sharing of personal information

We do not sell personal information for money. We do, however, “share” personal information under the CPRA when we use cookies and tags such as the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out at any time by visiting our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.

Your rights under the CCPA and CPRA

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and share.
  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Request that we delete personal information we collected from you.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not knowingly collect this).
  • Be free from retaliation for exercising any of these rights.

How to submit a request

You can submit a verifiable consumer request by:

  • Emailing info@comparelegalsoftware.com with the subject line “California Privacy Request.”
  • Writing to Compare Legal Software, 9633 Waterford Place, Apt 312, Loveland, Ohio 45140.

Include the email and phone number you submitted on our form, along with what you would like us to do. We will verify your identity before responding. We will respond within 45 days, with a possible extension of up to 45 additional days where allowed by law.

You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We will ask the agent for written proof of authorization and may still contact you to verify your identity.
